Returns Policy – Books Only

We are committed to providing high-quality books and ensuring your order arrives in perfect condition.

Returns & Eligibility

Our returns policy applies only in cases where the book arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect. Due to the nature of books, we do not accept returns if you change your mind or after the book has been read. This is in accordance with UK law, which allows businesses to limit returns on goods that are easily copied, such as books.

You have 30 days after receiving your order to notify us of any damage or issues.

To be eligible for a return, the book:

  • Must be in the original condition as received (unread and unused)

  • Must be in its original packaging

  • Must be accompanied by proof of purchase (receipt)

How to Report Damage or Issues

Please inspect your book(s) upon delivery. If your order arrives damaged, defective, or you receive the wrong item, contact us immediately at sales@davidmackinnon.com. Provide photos of the damage where possible.

Returns must be pre-authorised. Items sent back without prior approval will not be accepted.

Non-Returnable Items

Unless damaged or faulty on arrival, books are non-returnable once delivered. Returns for reasons such as:

  • Finished reading

  • Change of mind

  • Dislike of content are not accepted.

We also do not accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

European Union 14-Day Cooling-Off Period (Digital Goods Exclusion)

If your order is shipped into the European Union, under EU law you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of delivery. However, this right does not apply if:

  • The book was delivered in good condition and is simply unwanted

  • The book is a digital download or has been unsealed, which is exempt from cancellation once accessed or downloaded

If you wish to exercise this right, contact sales@davidmackinnon.com within 14 days of receiving your order.

Refunds

Once we have received and inspected an eligible return (damaged or faulty only), we will notify you of the outcome. If approved, a full refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Please note that your bank or card issuer may take additional time to process the refund.
